Cookies
PortWatch sets no first-party tracking cookies. The site is server-rendered HTML and CSS without an authentication layer, so there is no session cookie, no preference cookie, and no analytics cookie set by default. If you are reading this page on a deployment that has analytics or advertising enabled (see below) those services may set their own cookies, governed by the third-party privacy policies linked from each respective vendor.
Server logs
The hosting provider logs HTTP requests for operational reasons — to detect abuse, diagnose performance problems, and meet abuse-reporting obligations. These logs typically include the IP address of the requesting client, the requested URL, the HTTP user-agent string, the HTTP referer if any, the timestamp, and the response status. Server logs are not joined to any other data set and are retained for the period configured by the hosting provider, typically a small number of days.
Analytics
If a build of PortWatch enables an analytics provider (for example a privacy-respecting product such as Plausible or self-hosted Matomo), that provider will receive aggregate page-view data. Where analytics are enabled, the choice of provider and the data collected are documented in the deployment’s about page. PortWatch does not enable Google Analytics by default.
Advertising
Some deployments of PortWatch include reserved placements for AdSense or comparable display advertising. Where advertising is enabled, the ad network will set its own cookies subject to the network’s privacy policy, and you may opt out via the network’s consent tooling and via your browser’s do-not-track and cookie controls. The placements appear in commented HTML markers in every layout (see ADSENSE_HEADER, ADSENSE_IN_CONTENT and ADSENSE_FOOTER), so the location and number of ad units is fully auditable from page source.
Third-party links
The directory links to third-party reference resources â UNECE, IMO, Equasis, UNCTAD, NavCen and others â for context and verification. Following any third-party link will subject your browser to that destination’s privacy policy. PortWatch has no control over external sites and offers no warranty about their data handling practices.
Children
PortWatch is a reference directory for adult researchers and professionals. The site does not knowingly collect personal data from children, does not market to children, and contains no age-verified content. If you believe a child has interacted with a deployment of PortWatch in a way that resulted in personal data collection, please contact the maintainer.
Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated as the deployment evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the bottom of the page. The current effective date is the latest build of the directory.
